Thread: Best operating system for 4X trading?

  1. #1
I bought a server for conducting my trading system in the home which is noisy. The operating system is Windows 2000. I heard that XP runs quiter than 2000 which would be one of my considerations for updating. Before I decide to update, I want to hear from otherforexsoutheast.asiamembers which system they believe is ideal for 4X trading, including safety problems.

My opinion is maintain your Windows 2000. Don't waste any money on an extra windows XP. Go to http://www.free-av.com/ and get a free copy of antivirus. Then visit microsoft windows update and get all the necessary patches.
The nose difficulty, if it had been from the begining when you bought the PC, there is nothing much you can perform. For minor improvements, change the power supply. Make sure it is composed LOW NOISE or extreme LOW NOISE. See the number of dbs is composed on yours and make sure you get one with a LOWER dbs. For an extreme LOW sound you should likely see there aren't any powerful fans on this, with each only a 1/4 of their normal dbs. If you have an CPU don't expect too much improvement by changing the CPU cooler. When it is AMD, altering the cooling fan can help.
When the sound came only recently, it could be from the VGA card Best- buy a new one with no lover. If you would like to save money, then unscrew the black lover by the heat sink. 4 screws. Then utilize a Japanese knife and then lift up the sliver decal on the fan. Place 2 drops of coconut oil (car engine oil ) on the hole which contain a screw or metal. MAKE SURE NOT TO SMEAR THE OIL OUTSIDE THE HOLE. Otherwise the silver decal cannot be re-glued to the black fan. Twist the lover with your finger a few times. Subsequently re-screw the fan on the heat sink.
For certain people, sound isn't the annoyance. It is the reduced high frequency which the body cannot adapt. If that's the case, go for the water cooling system.
If all of the above still doesn't solve your problem, use ear plugs. Your very last resort; put your PC in the bathroom. Close to the door. Use a wireless radio wave -- mouse, keyboard, loud speakers wireless and track.
It ought to do the job. If it doesn't, use a tiny screw driver and then poke it through the left and right ear.
    Good luck

I think you've got it the other way around. The sound is being made by your hardware, maybe not your operating system. The 'sounds' that a working system makes can be eliminated by turning your speakers off.

That's accurate. Your CPU fan, cooling fans, CD/DVD ROMs and Harddrive(s) all have moving parts that make sound. Consider moving your CPU to another room where sound would not be a Issue, or replace your supporters with variable speed fans that you can control (WARNING: This MAY cause your computer to overheat if not used properly)

Hey linuxtroll, would you teach me linux? I have cable, so that I can download a version that is free. I have downloaded Mandrake in the past, but couldn't make all work. Audio, net connection, etc.. My hardware might not be compatible, where you'd come in but that is.

The real culprit for noisy 'puters can be discovered by following the guide from the back of this 'puter to where it plugs into the wall socket. If you look carefully you will see a little rocker switch..flick that and I guarentee you will have the quietest computer in your cube...

And while I'm giving free ideas, if you realize you need to zip a big file forget WinRar or WinZip, start a DOS box and then enter format C: Enhancing which drive letter that the document resides for C.. . .this is likely to produce the record sooooo small you will need specific software to recov....errr....find it...
