My article above, referencing Van Tharp, was just made because I found interesting the disparity between his view of the relative relevance of entrances and also the differing opinions provided in this thread from the powerful traders on this forum.

I guess I figured I had been using humor in my article. I didn't figure I'd not have mentioned that or it'd cause you a issue and had not addressed my post to you. Do your best not to take my statements it wasn't directed to you.

Thanks. But you didn't have to go on and on about it.

Well you did ask me to enlarge on it and I guess I just got carried away. I will try to be succinct next time and capture the idea in a line.

fiji are you saying that when the price breaks down the MA, wait for it to come back to the MA before entering?

One easy appliion would be a scenario in which you get a price cross followed with the speedy ma cross. Your first affirmation of market leadership (probably supported by a fashion filter) is the speedy ma crossing the slow ma. That activates the tracking entry . The tracking entry would adhere to the slow MA along a couple pips above the slow ma with a stop of n pips. Since most pullbacks which will take off tend to retreat to just touch the ma, or merely penetrate it somewhat, and then bounce, then your tracking entry would remain alive until say, the speedy ma ceases it is trip and heads back towards the slow ma with a particular percentage -- or some other market signal that indies the likelihood of a dip taking off has reduced.

On bigger time compressions (4hr and up) you might want to look for a buy signal after a bit or penetration of this slow ma since bounces in these time frames often have such a wide margin for error. In fact if a bounce will happen on the 4hr it will probably happen on 1hr or the 30 min first. So while it may be possible to trigger an alarm when price retreats into some 4hr ma the entry should be taken on a time frame that was lower.

    Does that make sense?

Ohhh... I find fiji man. Entry technique.

The obvious possible flaw is that you will miss some of the big moves which never pull back. But if this is an intermittent system (rather than a SAR system which has to ch all the large moves) I could certainly smell the possible.
