View Full Version : Short-Term Reversal Levels (STRLs)
The amounts below are valid through 2 PM PDT (22:00 GMT) on Tuesday - ideally, draw them on your charts so you may be aware of them. They are technical levels that I compute (not fibs or pivots) which can identify areas which have a high probability of halting reversing price action, or at the least slowing the speed of this tendency. I will post them here each day.
Naturally, the STRL's do not operate in isolation, they are best used together with other analysis techniques which help identifiy overbought/oversold conditions.

Dave

I have signed up for the 3 week trial subscription starting now!
What time are the STRL's updated on the site? Between 22:00-23:00 GMT
You are welcome - here are today's STRL's....
Dave Only a follow-up to the STRL's posted yesterday day (New York time):
USD/CAD - STRL service at 1.1669 (low for your session)
GBP/USD - low for the session, with a solid reversal (55 pips) off the 1.9485 STRL support amount
USD/CHF - top for the session has been 1.2413 (STRL)
USD/CAD - low for the session has been 1.1669 (STRL)
Hopefully, those were effective for you in your short-term trading.
Dave
The levels below are valid through 2 PM PDT (22:00 GMT) on Tuesday - ideally, draw them on your charts so you can be aware of them. They are technical degrees that I calculate (not fibs or pivots) that can identify areas that have a high likelihood of quitting reversing price action, or at minimum slowing the velocity of this trend. I will place them each day for the next few weeks.
Naturally, the STRL's don't operate in isolation, they're best utilized in conjunction with other analysis techniques that help identifiy overbought/oversold conditions.

Dave
Do you mind sharing how you got those levels. Is it using a formula or another way
Do you mind sharing how you got these levels? Can it be using a formula or another manner Pip,
I utilize a combination of formula and a few specialized analysis.
Dave
Can you tell exactly what the formula you used to get these support and resistance levels?

Sorry for the delay - supposed to ch them up earlier.
Side note:
EUR/CHF has produced an impressive, albeit spontaneous, move off the 1.6208 bull trend-channel throughout the last hour. We had remarked on Friday that this is really a level and so much had held.
Assuming this move is not retraced, it must imply that a different streak towards 1.6288 is in the cards and as such a succeeding move higher in the Dollar Index (DXC).

Do you have an indior that could automatically draw them on a MT4 trading channel? Right now, we just have the 'script/code/ to draw them on eSignal. As we get more clients on different platforms we'll add them as well.
In the meantime, you'd simply have to draw them in manually.

Dave As is the case on times where there isn't too much movement, the STRL's can be an efficient means to isolate short-term trades which can help you pick up a few pips and there. Notice the following:
EUR/USD - modest bounce off the 2nd STRL service at 1.3412 (this dovetailed in well with the help levels we've been mentioning in this chart from earlier this week.
USD/JPY - the first STRL has served as a solid support amount, preventing further price declines.
AUD/USD - STRL support preventing further reductions, combined with oversold daily chart suggests this is going to be a short-term low.
USD/CAD - 1st STRL service at 1.0797 provides a 40 pip reversal trade

Dave A couple of very pleasant reversals immediately off the STRL's:
GBP/USD - nailed the 1.9951 STRL support before reversing for nearly 50 pips.
NZD/USD - STRL support at .7400 stopped the sell-off and is beginning to allow prices to move modestly higher.

Dave For today at least, DXC sell-off is stopped by STRL support at 81.48 plus a fib expansion that comes in at 81.47.
At this point it does not seem that these amounts will prevent additional declines in DXC, but may simply slow down the speed of this sell-off.

Dave Some decent price action was observed across the STRL's (see link above) now, we note the following:
USD/JPY - 119.56 level held nicely
EUR/USD - STRL's did not provide too much although 1.3553 STRL did induce a pause in the selling instantly
USD/CAD - thus far the high for the day has become the STRL at 1.1060
Surely not the best functionality for the STRL's but definitely worth having on your own charts!

Naturally, you would have complete access to the STRL's each day at no cost and will probably uncover some interesting findings.

What time would be the STRL's upgraded on the site?
Resembles euro, chf and jpy went through these resistance levels.
resembles euro, chf and jpy went through these resistance levels such as aknife thru butter. The ones you are referring above were valid thru 2/26 at 22:00 GMT and don't have any significance for trading after 22:00 GMT on 2/26
The ones that are legitimate thru 22:00 GMT on 2/27 - have actually done pretty well thus far today.
I no longer place these each day so perhaps you believed these were the latest.
Today's STRL's in EUR/USD were at 1.3230, 1.3240 and have so far fared quite well
USD/JPY levels failed to hold but the USD/CHF STRL's at 1.2208 has held.

Hope you noticed the levels from today:
Dollar Index - stopped dead at the 83.83 degree and reversed
USD/CHF - called the non at 1.2150
AUD/USD - nailed the low at .7838
USD/CAD - the STRL's as a complete caugh the top of USD/CAD
GBP/USD - didn't push below the first 2 STRL support levels
EUR/USD USD/JPY STRL's were not effective, however, nothing ever works 100% of the time.

STRL's will be posted in this forum on Monday's Wednesday's between 2:30-3:00 PM PDT (21:30-22:00 GMT). Here's the hyperlink. They are available via subscription if you'd like them everyday.

Dave Hope folks took advantage of some good reversal off today's degrees -
NZD/USD - pinpointed top for 45 pip reversal thus far
EUR/USD - original STRL held and prices have backed off modestly
GBP/USD - pinpointed the low at 2.0067 for a 40 pip reversal
The others were less effective, but these shouldn't be utilized as stand-alone signals. Combine them with other analysis techniques and indiors.

People,
A decent day overall for your STRL's (see link in previous posting for all of the reversal amounts), nonetheless, three pairs slid out as ones which provided intra-day traders solid change trades.
Naturally, STRL's are not designed as a standalone indior, but if utilized in conjunction with easy overbought/oversold indiors, they become more effective. Don't hesitate to overlay your own analysis techniques with all the STRL's in conjuction.
The screenshots below are from eSignal, we can provide the script to possess those amounts automatically drawn in your eSignal charts daily (http://www.aspentrading.com/subscriptions.php)

Dave Folks,
Pretty powerful STRL's from yesterday afternoon - notice the following:
EUR/USD - large of the session and small price change of 1st STRL
GBP/USD - low of session at 1st STRL support degree
USD/CHF - low of session at 1st STRL support degree
EUR/JPY - nice reversal lower off the 1st STRL resistance level for approximately 30 pips
If you are a short-term trader and not employing these each daily, you're missing a crucial tool for your trading. I have some performance metrics to share in the next week or so so with you so you have some concrete information as to how they perform.
Dave
Just a note, I will not be providing the STRL's any longer on Wednesday's and Monday's - they are a part of the study I supply to customers on a subscription basis.
Thanks,
Dave
Are these numbers for the evening and day tomorrow(2/20 and 2/21)?
Do you offer daily telephoning services(fundamental and technical)?
Lines seem to be piled pretty close together about 10pips apart.
After we approach the very first line could we say that we input a 40pip molasses zone?
are such numbers for the evening and day tomorrow(2/20 and 2/21)?
Would you provide daily forecasting services(fundamental and technical)? Correct, they're valid for the subsequent 24-hours - I place them each day around 5 PM EDT (22:00 GMT)
Yes I (my firm) provide forecasting/research solutions for the FX market - see our website for more information.
Regards,
Dave

Once we approach the very first line could we state that we enter a 40pip molasses zone? Fantastic way to explain it - most times the very first STRL is the most effective one - if one is busted we typically will go into that 'molasses' zone because you call it.
No matter more times than not those support/resistance zones will allow superior places to enter/exit trades.
Dave
Just a followup into the STRL's submitted yesterday day (New York time):
USD/CAD - STRL support at 1.1669 (low for the session)
GBP/USD - low for the session, with a good reversal (55 pips) off the 1.9485 STRL support amount
USD/CHF - top for the session was 1.2413 (STRL)
USD/CAD - low for the session was 1.1669 (STRL)
Hopefully, these were powerful for you in your short term trading.
Dave
Would you add NZDUSD also please.
Can you include NZDUSD also please. Sorry, we do not compute STRL's for NZD/USD - perhaps down the street, but not in the current moment.
Sounds like you are discovering those useful?
Dave
