Thread: NinjaTrader has screwed up big time!

Zen is on of the feeds that Ninja utilizes and it belongs to Mirus. This brokerage is one of their spouses, but Ninja is an company.
Zen has developed some kind of a new back-end and it seems the new integration didn't go as easy as anticipated.

NinjaTrader and Mirus (ZenFire) are tightly linked spouses. Among other items, NinjaTrader provides assistance for Mirus customers in their forum and NinjaTrader needed to check and approve the software release before it went live.

Failed to go as smooth as anticipated?! That's an understatement. It turned out to be a mega tragedy for their traders who can't get a reliable connection! Apparently by Jan 5th the scenario may be resolved! Traders will not trust them though. The time Mirus stated it had been resolved they n't told the facts; the problems lasted.

ZenFire's original email forcing traders to close their trades and update their software says there were some rumours about which are not correct. Uncertain what the rumours are but the opinion seems to be that a company was relied on by ZenFire called Rithmic who terminated their contract. ZenFire (Mirus) then scrambled around for another spouse and released a half baked version of the software since they knew they'd no Rithmic feed after Dec 31st. And Mirus is trying to present the new software an improvement rather than admitting the fact - that it was a cobbled solution that they were made to release in panic ahead of the version ceased working on Dec 31st.

What consumers are particularly mad about is all the cloak and dagger. Mirus wasn't directly together from the beginning, did not acknowledge problems if they developed, did not apologise till it had been demanded of these and isn't speaking with customers (they even put their telephone on answerphone). This is all in addition to this software release that is botched.

I'd suggest readers here remember the Mirus and ZenFire manufacturers and avoid dealing with them as long as there are alternates.

We don't have any disagreement about how it affected traders. But they might have tested their appliions on a small number of consumers, when of the problems come up, and when you have a mass migration that is. Whether Zen is qualified to be a technology company, only time will tell.
As for Rithmic, it provides direct connectivity to a lot of platforms directly, including Ninja. It seems it is rather Zen/Mirus ended the connection to market bigtick and not the other way around.

We don't have any disagreement about NinjaTrader either. It's an independent company, as you say. NinjaTrader's responsibility is the charting software and they provide support for it in their own forums and on the telephone.

That said, NinjaTrader are protecting Mirus from the adverse publicity and, intentionally or accidentally, covering up the extent of the problems at Mirus/Zenfire. That they're near spouses makes me suspect the cover up is deliberate. To NinjaTrader: This ain't cool (and it's damaging your brand).

You might be right about Mirus being the instigator in the termination of the Rithmic partnership. The reports I've heard revolve around Rithmic giving the boot due to their participation to Zen/Mirus a rival product, with BigTick.

The problems, BTW, still continue and Mirus/Zenfire is still treating clients like mushrooms - keeping them in the dark and feeding them sh*t. For having a connection, the date was 5th. Today is the 6th and the latest line is that it'll be fixed in the coming days!! Buffoons!

@WideEyed I have read a lot of opinions on forums all day because I'm doing my due diligence about the rithmic.
Regrettably I came across forums which for the most part they are Zen/Ninja/Mirus biased despite the fact that Zen is dysfunctional.
If anybody is interested, I discovered this about Ninja and Rithmic: http://www.tradelogically.com/questi...-with-rithmic/ where many seem to be contented with the guide rithmic solution. I think implement the API and it's ideal for a man like me to learn a little programming, to be honest.

I really don't think that option exists.

In each trader's best 10 nightmares, has started? I am trying to find a new trading platform plus NinjaTrader was on the consideration list.

Nope, no progress. In fact, it's going backward. Since I have been in a position to exchange, it has been a few days and I have been kept hanging on. It'll be fixed tomorrow, Monday'll fixs It, the 5th of Jan'll fixs It, it is going to be fixed within the upcoming few days. Bloody ZenFire!

And now it seems like it won't be fixed whatsoever as Mirus has sent clients an email stating they can change you to a different system if you would like. When? Probably in the upcoming few days (as their phone lines are all busy and they aren't responding to emails).

NinjaTrader itself is nice and I would recommend the platform, but the issue is that you then have to choose a data provider, an execution engine, a broker and an FCM. And it is more complex than that. Data providers have various plans and the costs vary significantly based on all kinds of factors such as what tools you need data on (Some offer some restricted free data - like Kinetick's free End of Day data. Many don't offer bonds, don't offer you European instruments don't offer commodities. You need to know what exchanges you need before you register). Brokers (depending on the FCM they are routing you via) vary widely in the deposit they need, the net value of these individuals they're willing to take on, the commissions they charge, the minimal number of contracts you want to exchange every month ....

Choose a data provider initially and you might discover that various brokers and implementation engines won't function with it. Choose a broker initially and you may find that you live in the nation that is wrong or you aren't rich enough. The options and combinations are fruing and complex. If you pick a broker you might realize that the available data providers for that broker don't give you prices on the tool you need or have a massive cost for the data or don't offer you an implementation engine that operates with NinjaTrader.

I wish there was just one page that explained it all in simple English and made it easy to pick! I really don't understand the half of it.

When going from MetaTrader to one of the best charting platforms like TradeStation, Multicharts and NinjaTrader, this is the one thing no one tells you - it is a lot, lot more complex than it seems and there are so many parties involved that if things go wrong they can all blame each other while you are sitting at home twiddling your thumbs unable to exchange.

I hear a lot of talk about Meta Trader not being that rather than being however I have never and have been trading for 2 years. . .never.... had a problem with this Platform. One Harmonics Trader (won't call no names) who is constantly trashing Meta Trader has not posted a video in a while. Hum I wonder why ? He is paying big dollars for NinjaTrader...

I agree, it's always been dependable for me. However there are a lot of reasons to not use Metatrader. For starters, it is free of charge.

So, though the platform/broker/feed/execution engine universe is a minefield, I'm going to persist in navigating it and finding a solution that is right for me. I could use the additional information that you gets in a suitable feed.

In the meanwhile and till I've got something worked out, I'm using Metatrader. I will tell you however that moving back to Metatrader is like trading with one hand behind my back. How do I describe it? Hmm. Consider you normally exchange on a 15M chart. I remove your 15M chart and expect you to do exactly the same 15M trading but with a D1 or H4 chart instead. That is a bit like how I feel now going back to MT.
