Thread: Looking for a decent broker?

  1. #1
    Dear friends,

I'm searching for my second broker, I would appreciate any advice on such option.

    What I look for:

    - A financially stable broker
    - A serious one, one that you can trust
    - Adequate spreads
    - Able to offer at 200:1 leverage
    - that I do not really care if it's ECN or STP or MM or anything, as long as it's stable, trustable and offer decent spread and great leverage.

I'm currently with fxcm, but the problem together is deteriorating very quickly, so I'm just taking into consideration the idea of switch for something more stable and serious.

    Any advice is appreciated!

I'm also mainly considering FXpro. I haven't come across any other brokers that have decent feedback that offer negative equilibrium protection.
I don't have an account with FXPro but they seem to tick most of the boxes for me.

    Characteristics:
    - negative equilibrium protection
    - FX, stocks and commodities (although FX mainly)
    - leverage 1:1 - 1:500
    - commerce through chart in fxPro net platform
    - allows hedge with the same margin
    - decent net platform very much like MT4
    - ECN broker
    - decent Customer Care
    - controlled broker
    - without any charges to deposit to and out of accounts for currencies at GBP

They do 1:1 leverage? Good to know, I had been wondering about that. I've been trying their platform (cTrader) and I quite like it. I will probably still use an MT4 demonion feed since it's a little easier to handle than their charts, but the thickness of market, equity chart, complex TP SL material all seems pretty good. Got a few idle suits on demonion, but I suppose they are doing closest market fills instead of off exchange MM style matches - which is defeat by DOM anyway.

Ok so I played a little with FXPRO and XTBUK, here my opinion:

Both are predied on UK, a secure country, and both are regulated.

    XTB UK:
Guru: Absolutely the top spreads, for example as I am writing this, eurusd got 1.1 pips (no commissions), and it's the typical less or more.
Other pairs also have good spreads, so gold, oil, the stock indexes (good spread there!) , not bad at all.
    Guru: Leverage 1:200
    Disadvantages: No negative balance protection.

    FXPro:
    Guru: Negative balance protection.
    Guru: Leverage 1:500
Disadvantages: Poor disperse, eurusd 1.9 while I am writing, and overall the spread of each additional currency and gold oil and stock indexes are much worse compared to xtb.

So. . I am naturally inclined to decide on xtb, however there is more.

    Activtrades (uk)!

Guru: Uk based broker, regulated, insured etc..
Guru: Extended time broker, serious and trustable.
    Guru: 1:400 leverage
Guru: Best spreads I've ever noticed, eurusd right now 0.8pips (no commissions), overall every currency pair have the top spreads I've ever seen, and also in oil gold stock indexes etc..
Guru: Negative balance protection (? I am not 100% sure about this yet)

So. . I believe this activtrades looks fairly great, anybody have some experience with them?

They appear to encourage negative equilibrium protection but I'd check the legal docs to make certain.

I am only considering brokers with adverse balance protection since it will help me sleep at night. Cease losses wont help considerably with events like last weeks SNB CHF.

Yeah they do, its in the customer arrangement PDF

    http://cdn.activtrades.com/documents..._agreement.pdf

    Section 34. Negative Protection

It really looks great, great spreads, negative equilibrium protection, higher leverage.

Of course nothing consistently is 100% cool, so that the negative side with this broker is it isn't ECN/STP, basically once you make money they loose cash.

Now, should you trade for make cash, I guess this can turn into an issue (? Just guessing), so I am not yet 100% convinced of linking them.

    I shall consider it though

ETX captial do it and that I think IG do as well. It will cost you10 per trade with ETX. I emailed them to know how guaranteed it is but they have not bothered to return to me. This was.
