    Hi Sam,

I saw your post in this other thread asking for help: https://www.forexsoutheast.asia/fore...ogramming.html

You asked specifically about MT4, so it is worth noting that using all the MT4 platform, daily candles start and end at midnight (00:00) server moment. FXCM has MT4 servers for accounts denominated in AUD and USD together with the server time set to GMT 3. This way daily candles on the MT4 charts start and finish in sync with all the New York Close at 5pm New York Time.5pm New York Time = 17:00 Eastern Daylight Time = 21:00 GMT = 8am Sydney Time Note this relationship will change when Daylight Savings Time ends from the US on November 6th Subsequently 5pm New York Time will equal 17:00 Eastern Standard Time, 22:00 GMT, and 9am Sydney Time
If that satisfies you, then it is possible to try out a complimentary http://bit.ly/2dc3xqe.

There is a free http://bit.ly/2cQaX2q indior at FXCMapps.com that you could use to display the time zone of your choice to MT4 charts. That may be Sydney time, GMT, New York Time or your time at the United Arab Emirates. Note that this won't alter the server time when daily candles start and end on the machine.

The whole market should work off NY Open and close and I concur with Jason with all the above post.

Thanks Jason, I'm interested in daily charts following Sydney time.

    Hi Sam,

While there are many Currency Market brokers in the world, there is a reason you may still have trouble finding one having daily candles that start and end in sync with all the Sydney Open on their MT4 charts. That is because, as I mentioned in my previous post, daily candles on MT4 start and end at midnight (00:00) server time. This is a feature of the platform that cannot be changed by any broker.

Consequently, most brokers ( even in Australia) place the MT4 server time zone to GMT 3 (this can change to GMT 2 if Daylight Savings Time ends in the US on November 6th) so daily candles start and end in sync with all the New York Close that is at 5pm New York Time. As you noted yourself, it is a 24/5 market, so traders want to see five daily candles on their own charts per week. This is only possible, if your charts are in sync with all the New York Close.

If the MT4 server time is set to anything besides GMT 2/3 (AKA New York Close charts) then you are going to see six daily candles per week rather than five. Four of those daily candles will be exactly 24 hours in length, while the two daily candles will add up to the 24 hours of the trading week. Having six daily candles of length, rather than five daily candles per week, affects calculations for indiors like the 10-day moving average.

That said, FXCM does provide some MT4 servers set to GMT (rather than GMT 2/3) since this is the second most popular time zone requested. While we have heaps of MT4 servers, there is not enough need (even from our clients in Australia) to warrant setting these MT4 servers into a time zone in sync with all the Sydney Open, instead of the New York Close or perhaps GMT.

Did you code this egy yourself? If that's the case, you should be able to reprogram it to take a look in an hourly chart rather than a daily chart. Then it is possible to use the data from the hourly chart to compute your Open, High, Low and Close (if this is your intention) based on the Sydney Open, rather of the New York Close.

Notice that an MT4 server with daily charts that start and finish in sync with all the Sydney Open wouldn't be following Sydney time, because the time period of the server would have to be put in this manner that midnight (00:00) server period would coincide with the Sydney Open. Keep in mind this type of time zone setting would be quite near the GMT 2/3 setting used for New York Close charts. It might change based on when Australia ends and begins Daylight Savings Time rather than when the US begins and ends Daylight Savings time.

When consider it that way, you can see the reason why there is so little need for such a server time zone putting even in Australia. Instead, I mentioned earlier that there is a free http://bit.ly/2cQaX2q indior at FXCMapps.com which you may use to show the time zone of your choice to MT4 charts. That could be Sydney time, GMT, New York Time or your Neighborhood time in the United Arab Emirates. Note that this will not alter the server time zone or when daily candles start and finish on the server.
