I've been experimenting with all the basic Luxor system explained in the book Trading Systems from Emilio Tomasini and Urban Jaekle. I am aware there's a prior thread here discussing this system but as there were no results shown in this 30, I'd love to resurrect the issue.

The system is a really easy moving average cross for entries but using a breakout filter added, where once a cross takes place trades are entered if the price breaks the large for longs, or the low for shorts, of their prior bar. The idea is that provides confirmation of the price move. The results put forward in the book are great for such a egy. The author presents some results from TradeStation on GBPUSD over 2002-2008 showing a net profit of $66k from fixed 1 lot trades and a decent looking equity curve.

I do not use TradeStation, I utilize MetaTrader 4. So I have coded this up egy in MQL as explained and can't secure backtest results anywhere near what's put forward in the book. On GBPUSD (FXCM data), over the same data interval and timeframe the equity curve is all over the place and ends in a reduction. I have attached a screenshot of the results below.

Has anyone looked into this system and had some success? And more importantly has anyone been able to replie the results shown in the book?

I am not sure whether it's because of a gap in the data used, something I have misinterpreted in my coding, or if the egy just doesn't work.

TradeStation users - will anyone be willing to check the Easy Language code supplied in the book (attached below) and see if the results come out the same as shown in the book? ... (screenshot attached).
