Thread: Good Friday NFP

  1. #1
    Hello all,

I am simply wondering if I have this correct. Here in Australia, this friday is a holiday, being Good Friday (easter). I am assuming this would also be the case in the remainder of the Western world.

So could NFP still be published this Friday, or could it be post-poned to next week? How would the liquidity/trading be affected by the fact that it is a holiday, if it's this week?

If I am missing something, I am happy to be corrected.

    Regards,
    .

    Hi perky,

I realise . What I am interested in is that Good Friday would be a bank/public holiday so many offices, in the wester planet, esp government ones could be shut, or so I'd believe.

    Cheers,
    Kermut

Jose' is no more with us. His forecasts were 12 from 14 in predicting the NFP reports.

Yes, I wondered that also. In addition, I live in Australia, but from my journeys and my handy diary, I know it is a holiday in britain and Germany (probably the majority of Europe) - undoubtedly not in Japan - and it looks like it isn't a public holiday in the US either, which is very strange, given the level of religious fundamentalism there.
I imagine that it may be a bit like the thanksgiving holiday this past year, when lean trading can make the market very, very explosive. I think I will be seeing this enjoy the surfing championships in Hawaii - sort of on the sidelines!

LOL. . You have to spoil the fun!

But honestly, NFP can really be a BLACK Friday - aka WHIPSAW day.
NFP was constantly doing at least 50 pip of transfer. Last Month, GBPUSD did as much as 40, and maintained yoyo-ing for many times. EURUSD yet kept moving in one direction.

Thus, If straddling, do no do an OCO. If it whipsaws, your additional order will be filled to earn profit. OR, if it whipsaws, it usually will give you enough time to react manually.
