I believe that getting in before the spike is impossible, unless you've got a program that buys/sells when the news comes out.

To sum up, look at tradethenews, they are good for smaller traders, if you don't want to dish out 700-1700 for news each month and also have 2 year contracts.
I already have trade the news with audio assistance.
And certainly I'm not expecting to get-in before the news, at least not with all the tools which I have.
I must say that getting in before the spike is not impossible but you have to have the right equipment for this, hedge funds do it and they have millions to spend on account of the art communiions and technologies.

TTN doesn't have a programmable interface to connect news amounts into automated appliions like Merlin's news box. I really don't believe Merlin is manually filling-in the data since it is heard on TTN, he go trade

I wonder if you've bloomberg or reuters terminal using programming interfaces linked to the popup window
If is utilizing bb/reuters to automate the delivery of those figures I then suggest that he not quote on a public forum that he is doing so as he'll be in direct breach of the contracts which state that any information sent to a bloomberg terminal, fixed or roaming cannot leave that particular terminal. Be cautioned, bb in particular takes this very seriously as they have been ramping up their login procedure to stop a number of users in banks out of usingthe same account. You are however allowed to send information that was based to other machines so long as the original data cannot easily be back calculated. For his sake, and yours if you want to keep getting this data from its current delivery process, I'd refrain from asking him questions relating to this
