    Say I have two systems:

System 1 includes a 4 hour chart in which Im risking 3 percent per trade with a stop of 100 pips. If I create 100 pips, I earn 3 percent return on my funds.

System 2 includes a 15 second chart in which Im risking 6% per trade with a stop of 25 pips. If I create 100 pips, I earn return on my funds.

Since you can see pips do not equate to dollars, yet pips are everything to new traders. System two could create 1/8 of their total pips as system one and be making the exact same amount in dollars. Do you want to create dollars, or would you would like to make pips?

Don't get too cocky though with your risk versus benefit hoping to increase your position size and at the exact same time diminishing your stop placement, or you are not going to be making pips or dollars.

I figure that he intends return on investment is more accurate - it depends upon whether you consistently use exactly the identical lot size - you can readily be profitable in pips although not in cash.

    Kind Regards

BTW, rod is the one which exotic ers use. We FF members prefer polls (at least here at the forum).

    Great Luck,

I was trading a portfolio of futures together with the (very easy ) Aberration long-term strategy a few years back. I was long 1 x EC (euro fx futures contract @? 125,000) from early 2002 till early 2005 for a gain of over 3000 ticks (futures equivalent of pips), ie. Almost $40k. I remember at the time which I kept believing retracements would discontinue me but the 2% (or was it 3%) stop was calculated in the entry rather than trailed, so the trade only kept going.

Together with hindisght, it might have been great to have traded state a 240min method alongside to make money on the exact sizeable retracements.

PS. Aberration is no longer traded by me - it was too long-term for me and I could not take the immense givebacks in profits which were integral to the system.
