Thread: How do you determine the volatility of a pair? low,med or high

What are the indiors? How can you measure it? I have a tendency to have more success in low to medium volatility and I get stopped out because of high vol. I don't enjoy high vol swings. Countless pips in moments, etc. I don't want to trade during that time.

    Please help. thanks.

ATR is Average True Range... it is a formula, Google it and you'll find it. Most of us don't need the formula, we simply use the indior.

You have to look up the definition of ATR on stockcharts.com

Scroll for a couple screens and spot the utmost ATR value (based on the time frame) for a specified period (can be for instance a month for dailyper week for h4, a day for 1h, etc.. .) , in addition to the minimum price.

    Insert them divide per two.
You will then have the low, med and high values for this specified interval, and you'll be able to add the respective levels for your indior so to see them on the chart and be able to evaluate and how at a particular moment that the volatility is.

Maybe there's an indior that would do the calculations, even if I find it I'll post it here.

About 1Â 1/2 year ago the ATR for the EUR/USD was from the 50s and 60s.... Now it's over 200, and back in novemebr of 2008 that the ATR got as high as the 350s.... Now that is volitility.

I could have looked up the definition, spoon fed it to you just like this clown did.

Buy why should not you need to look this up just like me and everybody else?

A process is not a definition... and teamwork does not care about who's holding the spoon... so long as things are finally known.

Now, how did you understand that I love to listen to different people's laughter?
