Thread: Great GBP/USD Strategy for Swing Trades

I entered both transactions with two lots. At 70 pips on the cable I shut a lot to lock in some profit, got a bit antsy.

Thanks guys for the input on variables affecting price action.

Looks like I'll have to use charting other than IG Markets...I double checked that for its past (false) long entrance ALL criteria were met, for instance, daily filter ( Slow %K above Slow %D to the Daily Chart ), though only just....and low and behold, the daily filter kept me OUT of this current brief trade !

I believe I'll give MT4 a move as it appears to be a favorite option.

    Happy pipsday.

    Hi all traders,

I got a few emails lately asking me to provide an example on the re-entry rules for my swing trade system.

You men saw the short re-entry on GBP/USD based on my re-entry rules?
We've got yet another EMA4 and EMA 13 cross for the downside beneath the EMA50, while our daily sotch filter can also be poiting down.

    Hope this helps.

    Vynner
would you tell me how you cope with situations like we had this week? Do you receive any profits once the market is swing. . The 50ema; do you leave your stop loss at -50 is passed by making ema that is unable to 13?
    Thanks

    Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, been lurking for about a week. Wonderful work on the system Vynner and it's great everyone's getting in to this.

I only wanted to set the facts straight. I got exactly the same results as that guy when automating this system using his pseudo-code as the basis for the EA. It lost 50 percent of the account. But, his code does not accurately model this system. You can't run it like this or it buys and sells rapid-fire in any ranging market. It acts on a lot of EMA4/EMA13 re-crosses that it should not.

I'm a programmer by trade, and I made a fast hack to only look for recrosses of the 50 line. It was buggy because I haven't had the time to rewrite the way the original code works to handle recrosses. It is hard to program this properly because I need to observe the last for crosses. Anyway, over two years it gave a $1300 yield on a $2000 account on the GBP/USD. It lost $200 on a 2000 account on the USD/CHF. It lost $300 on a $2000 account on the USD/JPY with a drawdown of about 20%. The problem with it is that it makes zero internet pips for around 6 months and then suddenly the market makes a significant move and it bags a massive profit.

I'm uncomfortable with it as-is right now so I'm rewriting the code. I want a smoother equity curve which doesn't seem like measures. I'm thinking of using the incline of a 78 or 90 period SMA or EMA to determine the direction of the trend so it doesn't trade counter-trend or within a ranging market. Any ideas on that?

Let me make sure I have the system down although before I proceed any farther with testing:
    - Enter long/short when EMA4 crosses EMA50 and then EMA13 crosses EMA50
    - Use daily Stoch as filter
    - Establish stop at 50
    - Exit when EMA4 crosses over EMA13 to additional side
    - DO NOT re-enter if EMA4 crosses back over EMA13 without both crossing over EMA50 to additional side
    - replie

    Is there anything I'm missing?

Edit: My code is doing some wacky things so those results may improve. It is the remnants of the pseudocode submitted in the center of the thread, we can't use this.

If everything remains as it is in line with the system on the next open candle there is a legitimate long entry. Am I right?

First , thanks, VyNNeR for this system that is wonderful!
I'm using software, in which the time zone can be put, so I set it GMT 8, because that is the VyNNeR's zone, even when building the system so far as I understand so it ought to work best there.
And right now all the indiors show that there will be a lengthy sign shortly, the 4EMA already crossed the 50EMA, the daily stoch says yes for quite a long position, and if the price goes on moving this way the 13EMA is going to cross the 50EMA very soon in a sharper angle, that can be a fantastic sign according to some prior articles. Till the start of the new candle stay 4 minutes here.
Let's hope it crosses nicely, there will be no surprises and everyone take some fantastic pips with this.
    Good luck!

PS: Right now the 50EMA is 1.9932 and also the 13EMA is 1.9915.

There was a cross over the open of the next candle so I am long @ 2.0064.
