Hello, this is probably really straightforward but I would like to ask anyway as I dont know the solution.

So at 10pm there was high impact news for NZD. Why did it gap upward from 0.7272 to 0.7288?
Why is it not only a biiger candle at the time of the news?

Not sure I see if you are referring to on my charts but most probably when a market openings during trading hours it's because of liquidity, many specifically the lack of liquidity. Around news that there is less liquidity providers, wider spreads and much more liquidity takers. Under such circumstances the perceived smoothness of the market fades and each ticks becomes larger. If the news is out at 10 sharp and the first tick of the new candle is far in the last tick in the previous candle you'll have a gap. If however the last tick in the previous candle and also the first tick of the new candle are close and then the market goes you'll have a really big candle with no gap.

Besides that it can be your broker is slow to react to the rising level of action around news time inducing his charts to difference because, as an Example, his server froze and stop feeding ticks to a plateform for an Instant
